. INTRODUCTION
Should you choose Iran for your higher education and learning new choices, you will have selected a good and appropriate environment. The Islamic Republic of Iran, a country with tourism attractions and mild climate with four distinct seasons, fostering morals and faith parallel with science and technology, has prepared grounds for training specialists capable of serving the country and the humanity.
Higher education in Iran enjoys sublime stature and position. Indeed, six important parts of the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran deals with higher education and its objectives; considering sciences, techniques and advanced experiences of human and making efforts for advancing them as the pivotal principle in the state policy making priorities.
The establishment of University of Tehran in the year of 1934 constituted the first effective step in founding new higher education system in Iran . After triumph of the glorious Islamic Revolution in Iran in the year of 1979, higher education system developed substantially both quantitatively and qualitatively, to such extent that now important university centers offering various academic fields exist in all provinces of the country.
Foreign students, should be admitted, may study in all universities of Iran in different levels, particularly at Master Degree and PhD levels. Considering that the cost of living in Iran is relatively lower than in European countries, the United State and Canada , foreign students will be able to live in Iran even with their spouses and return to their homelands after successfully completing studies.
Degrees granted by Iranian universities particularly by state universities are internationally credited; and the graduates will face no problem finding a job in their countries of origin or continuing with their studies in universities of other countries.
Iranian universities have thus far admitted students from 100 different countries of the world.
HIGHER EDUCATION SYSTEM IN IRA N
Higher education in Iran is offered in two separate divisions of state and private sectors. State higher education is that part of the higher education the academic centers and entities of which are established by the state; and two important ministries namely Ministry of Sciences, Researches and Technology and Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education are principally in charge of it.
In Iranian higher education system, educational fields in various levels are divided into six medical departments with 110 specialty field: Human Sciences Department with 342 fields; Basic Science Department with 108 fields; Technical and Engineering Department with 208 fields; Agriculture and Veterinary Department with 71 fields; and Art Department with 42 fields.
State higher education is offered within two frameworks of class education and remote education. At the time being, 60 universities throughout the country are affiliated to the Ministry of Sciences, Researches and Technology; and 41 universities and higher education institutes are affiliated to Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education.
. COURSES
Course in higher education system means a set of educational activities that is offered in a special system framework for an academic field and that leads to grant of a degree in higher education. Under the Iranian system of higher education, the following courses are offered: Associate of Sciences, Bachelor Degree, Master Degree, Professional Doctorate Degree and Ph.D.
1. Associate of Sciences Courses
The course consists of 68 to 72 units; and its duration is at least 2 years and at most 3 years. The graduates are awarded associate degree.
2. Bachelor Degree Courses
The course comprises 130 to 145 units. The duration authorized for study at Bachelor Degree level is at least 4 years and at most 6 years. The graduates are awarded Bachelor Degree.
3. Master Degree Courses
The course includes 28 to 32 units. The duration of study at Master Degree level is at least 2 years and at most 3 years; and the student are granted Master Degree.
4. Professional Doctorate Degree Courses
Professional Doctorate Degree Courses cover the field of medicine, Veterinary and Pharmaceutics. The PhD of medicine includes 190 units, the PhD of Veterinary 217 units and the 210 Pharmaceutics units. Duration of study in MD is between 6 to 10 years, in Doctorate of Veterinary between 6 to 9 years and in Pharmaceutics between 5 to 9 years. The graduates are awarded professional (general) Doctorate Degree.
5. PhD Courses
The PhD courses encompasses 42 to 50 units of teaching and research. PhD courses take at least 4 years and at most 6 years time.
. REQUISITE CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION TO UNIVERSITIES
A. Minimum Scientific Qualification:
1. Acceptable Degree in the previous level;
2. Minimum GPA of 13 out of 20 for studying at Bachelor Degree level;
3. Minimum GPA of 14 out of 20 for studying at Master Degree level;
4. Minimum GPA of 16 out of 20 for studying at PhD Degree level;
5. Completion of Persian language courses;
6. Completion of pre-requisite courses as may be determined by the admitting university.
B. General Conditions:
1. An undertaking to pay the tuition;
2. Good physical and mental health.

1. Completed form of application;
2. Copy of the last academic degree and transcripts;
3. Copy of passport (page containing particular of applicant)
4. Two picture (present) of 6 4 size.
. ACADEMIC CALENDAR
In Iranian higher education system every academic year consist of two semesters: the one 1st semester is from September 10 to end of January; and the 2nd semester is from February 1 to end of June. In a certain universities summer semesters are offered in certain field, in which semester non-Iranian students may take up to 6 units, upon agreement of university. Summer semester is from July 10 to August 5.
